The rollerbasketball tournament we organised last week was a great success. Glad it’s over though.
I played in Amsterdam Dribbl I: we came fourth. Here’s us playing against Bremen, the winner of the tournament. We played 30-30 against them, the only time they didn’t win!

Expect some videos soon. We taped a lot!
Might organise it again next year, now that we know what it takes and what we need to do.

On Friday night Alexander and I visited Discovery 2008. We had a really good time and saw some amazing things. Like the Philips 3D TV that you can watch and see the 3D effects of without special glasses! We also had some great fun with the Shamestation. And we saw a flying device that flew by flapping its wings. Now also possible in theory!

I discovered a photo of myself from last year’s Discovery on their website, completely by accident. I’m so photogenic! :-)

My Lely team won the first game of the season, against the Old Birds from Purmerend. Only by one point, so we can do better. I’ve learned some lessons: I got to take more shots when I’m open to form more of a threat and stay on the guy who has the rebound if I’m close, to slow down their attack. Getting there. I liked that our new coach let me play almost the entire game, though.
Next game is next Saturday.

I’m home most of the day, reading Year’s Best Science Fiction: Twenty-Fifth Annual Collection, a collection of short stories I read yearly. Today I read “The Merchant and the Alchemist”s Gate” by Ted Chiang, amongst others, which won both the Hugo for Best Novelette this year, and last year’s Nebula’s . I have to agree with the juries here, a great tale.
Tonight, if I can get tickets, I’m going to the Manhattan Short Film Festival.
Theme of the day: short fiction.

Dammit, we lost against Anoeta 2 last night, by just two points. I started off quite well, with a three-pointer on my first shot-attempt. More than half the scores of the first quarter were due to yours truly. The opposing team started defending more fervently and I didn’t get as many chances. The last minute of the match, we were still equal, I made a pass to Henk, who wasn’t looking! That cost us the match, I think.
Still, it was fun playing, with referees, and time etc. We have another match next Thursday, in Purmerend. Fingers crossed!

I was so wasted last night. Came home from work and slept for an hour. I hadn’t slept so well the day before. Woke up in the middle of the night with a bad cramp, probably from my legs not being used to so much basketball. Yet.
I had a meal at Greenmeals, just around the corner from where I live, but it wasn’t so great.

I was pretty hot at the basketball training last night. I hope they don’t think I shoot like that every time!
After practice I had to cycle to the guy that does BV Lely member adminstration, so it was a pretty late night. I’m feeling it.

Well, I chose my basketball team: it’s BV Lely, I play in Heren 5. Mainly for where and how often they train, because if I’d played with the Spuyt, I’d have been playing at a higher level. We play in poule 3A. Saturday’s my first game!
